From June 17, 2025, the dreamlike, anthropomorphic world of Marta Roberti invades Palazzo Boncompagni. An exhibition that interweaves myth, nature and history in a unique dialogue between contemporary art and the ancient architectural splendor of the residence of Pope Gregory XIII.
Palazzo Boncompagni opens its doors to the poetic and visionary universe of Marta Roberti, one of the most original artists on the contemporary scene. Her works transform the spaces of the palace into an imaginative habitat populated by sphinxes, archaic goddesses, exotic animals and hybrid creatures, offering visitors an evocative journey between metamorphosis and mythology.
The artist’s creatures will populate both the exterior loggia and the interior rooms of the Boncompagnina, all the way to the monumental Vignola Staircase. Marta Roberti’s works establish an intimate dialogue with the architecture and decorations of the Boncompagnina, where grotesques on a white background, unreal landscapes, fantastic animals and mythological gods seem to be mirrored in her drawn creatures: from Athena to Aphrodite, from Ceres to Fortuna, each figure evokes a bridge between ancient time and contemporary sensibility.
Born in Brescia in 1977, Marta Roberti Lives and works between Rome and Warsaw.
After completing a dregree in Philosophy in Verona, she went on to study Multimedia art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brera.
Drawing is her main medium which she uses in installations and animated videos through which she explores the relationship between East and West, studying and reworking myths and their represen-tation. Her artistic production has always found inspiration in the idea that the ego has no boundaries and that it is not only human.
In 2020 she won the Cantica Award, and her work Bestiary of the Other World became part of the collection of the National Institute of Graphic Arts.
The exhibition can only be visited by guided tour with reservations required.
