The Palace
Pope Gregory XIII had great attention and openness towards the female figure, so much so that, during his reign and under his auspices, the Monte del Matrimonio was created; still active today in Via Altabella. The Monte del Matrimonio receives and administers the payments that benefactors, called Montisti, make in favor of young people from less well-off families.
Its main purpose was to provide a nuptial dowry but also to encourage young people to study, work and make a religious profession.
